For Tailor-made Holidays

New York City is a place where you'll find natural and architectural beauty in abundance when you embark on a sightseeing tour of the American megacity. It is a world-renowned centre of arts, is a trendsetter, and can be a great delight when it comes to dining and shopping experiences. Although it is the most densely populated city in the United States of America, you can easily leave the crowd behind and unwind in some pleasant natural surroundings upon visiting its popular parks. Besides sightseeing, there are several other outdoor activities you'd like to indulge in while holidaying in this part of the USA:

1. Watch some wonderful birds in Prospect Park

If you love bird-watching and have been thinking that Central Park is the only place where you can spot some beautiful birds flying around, you need to visit Prospect Park located in Brooklyn. This park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same American landscape architect who designed Central Park and many other famous urban parks. Prospect Park is home to over 200 species of birds depending on the season when they can be spotted. During your new york holidays, you can also visit this park for a free bird-watching tour, which begins at around 12:30 pm.

2. Try bouldering in Central Park

This park in New York City is a favourite among those wanting to enjoy some exciting activities outdoors. You'll not only have many attractions worth exploring in this park but would also get the chance to try bouldering. Well, this particular activity is a form of rock-climbing enjoyed on small rock formations or the artificially-built rock walls. Wave Rock, Rat Rock, and Cat Rock are the three venues in Central Park where you can find a bunch of bouldering enthusiasts showing their climbing skills. If you have strong muscles and are willing to climb the vertical, steep boulders, you can try this thrilling activity.

3. Go mountain-biking in Wolfe's Pond Park

Located on the South Shore of Staten Island, this large public park has several paths for those who wish to enjoy biking and walking. The park also has tennis and basketball courts in addition to two playgrounds and a pond after which it has been named. If you're a mountain-biking enthusiast, you'll get the right doses of adventure while in this part of New York. Whether you're a mountain-biker of an intermediate level or a complete novice, there are trails in this park that suit all kinds of riders. Beginners and young children can try the flat trails, while the real adventure-seekers can enjoy their off-road action on the rougher paths.

4. Enjoy a nature walk in Inwood Hill Park

Although this park may not be as vast as Central Park, it houses a beautiful virgin forest and is spread over a vast area of more than 75 hectares. It was opened officially on the 8th of May, 1926. The area along the Harlem River in this park is home to one of the last remaining bit of natural salt marsh of Manhattan. You can have a pleasant walk amidst the beautiful natural surroundings of the park and witness some of the stunning views on the way. If you wish to go uphill, you'll need sturdy walking shoes as those portions are quite steep.
