You might've seen all those postcard images of Thailand, which show the gleaming Buddhist temples and some pretty young women dressed in traditional Thai costumes. Now, if you've been thinking that this country is all about these majestic cultural offerings, you need to think again. Believe it or not, this Southeast Asian nation is also one of the world's best beach destinations! The reason? Well, it has many gorgeous islands located in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

While exploring these islands during your thailand holidays you'll certainly get to visit their enchanting white-sand beaches. The sheer beauty of these beaches would instantly delight your senses and the cool sea breezes would have a rejuvenating effect, no matter how exhausted you are after your sightseeing trips. So, here we've picked a few beaches that you can include in your bucket list:

1. Railay Beach

This is one of the first-class beaches you'll come across in the country. You can either choose to visit Railay East or Railay West once you reach the Railay peninsula. However, the Railay East portion is more popular during the high season between November and April. The clear, shallow waters that touch the beach area are safe for swimming. You'll also find yourself amidst picturesque cliffs while taking a stroll in this part of Thailand.

2. Pattaya Beach

Upon getting to the L-shaped island of Ko Lipe located in the Satun Province, you'll get to visit its three main beaches, namely the Sunset Beach, Sunrise Beach, and Pattaya Beach. Among these beaches, Pattaya Beach is the longest and the most popular one. It stretches to about a kilometre and features several hotels, restaurants, bars, and boutiques.

3. Klong Dao Beach

During your time spent on the west coast of Koh Lanta, you'll find this excellent beach that has soft white sands and calm waters. It has become a favourite among the locals and tourists over the years for the marvellous views of sunsets that they get to enjoy while on this beach. Owing to its rising popularity, many upmarket hotels and resorts have come up near the beach. Despite such developments, the secluded atmosphere of this beach hasn't been affected yet.

4. White Sand Beach

If you've been looking for a beach that would give you ample opportunities to indulge in some lighter activities, such as sunbathing, swimming, and playing beach volleyball, this would be one of the ideal choices. The middle and north-end portions of the beach are the most recommended areas for visitors. When you're on this beach, you may come across a few beach vendors. If you think they're being more of a nuisance while trying to sell you their wares, just refuse politely with a smile and they'll leave you alone.

5. Kata Beach

A charming beach you must not miss during your Thai holiday, Kata Beach is home to the Kata Centre at the northern end, where you'll find many resorts. You'll also have several shops selling souvenirs and fashion accessories. There are some impressive dining options as well. Depending on the size of your wallet, you can either go to the finest restaurants or choose to enjoy the cheaper street food.

6. Lamai Beach

On the island of Koh Samui, the country's second-largest island, you'll find this quiet beach with a pleasant, laid-back environment. Of course, there are many options in accommodation, shopping, dining, and spas, but they've not created any hustle-bustle on the beach. Lamai Beach is the second-largest resort area in Koh Samui and many of the cheaper options in accommodation are gradually making way to the luxurious and high-end hotels in recent times.
