For Tailor-made Holidays

There would be hardly anyone who doesn't know the Harry Potter series. Created by J.K. Rowling, the world-famous British author, this amazing series of fantasy novels became immensely popular across the world ever since the first novel was released in the year 1997. The seven books were later adapted into film series. They also inspired the Universal Creative to design a themed area covering Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure named 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter'.

After the official announcement of the first phase of its construction in 2007, this themed zone was opened to the visitors on the 18th of June, 2010. You can book your flights to Orlando well in advance to have greater savings, which can be utilised to visit the Universal Orlando Resort, where this themed area is located.

Enjoy the thrilling rides

You'll have an exciting time on all the four rides in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. However, we'd like to talk about two rides in particular here, the Flight of the Hippogriff and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. A roller coaster made of steel, Flight of the Hippogriff has been designed for families. When it opened in the year 2000, it was called Flying Unicorn. The story behind this ride is of Professor Hagrid offering lessons to the young wizards on flying atop a hippogriff, a magical creature with the front of an eagle and back portion of a horse.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey simulate a tour of the Hogwarts Castle and its surrounding areas. It is a dark ride located inside the replica of the castle. Visitors get to interact with many of the characters from the Harry Potter series as they walk through the castle. Once they are on the ride, the guests are taken around the exteriors of the castle. On the way, they encounter several versions of the characters in the series, such as the Hungarian Horntail Dragon, giant spiders, and dementors.

Discover the Hogsmeade village

When you enter the Hogsmeade Village, you'll find a brilliant recreation of the Hogwarts Express at the entry. It features the iconic whistle and steam, while the train is accompanied by its conductor. Those who have read the Harry Potter series would recall that the train was used to take the students to Hogwarts from London. You can have some refreshments at 'The Three Broomsticks', which has been inspired from the inn and pub featured in the Harry Potter series. Don't forget to explore the Honeydukes sweet shop, which is based on a similar sweetshop in the series.

Gift shops can be found at different places in Hogsmeade, offering you a variety of merchandise items from the world-famous series. Among them is Dervish and Banges, a store that sells some magical items. You can purchase Hogwarts souvenirs from a gift shop named Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods. Among the items that delight kids include replicas of props from the films of Harry Potter.

Be entertained at Diagon Alley

Diagon Alley also has loads of surprises for you and your entire family. One of them is a ride called Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, which is based on Gringotts Bank from the series. It is a steel roller coaster dark ride based on a 3D motion. Live events are also held at this section of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. They include the Knight Bus interactive show and the puppet shows of The Tale of The Three Brothers and The Fountain of Fair Fortune.

Live musical performances are also held in this section besides the puppet shows. Exchange of US dollars for Wizarding bank notes is available at the Gringotts Money Exchange. You can enjoy Butterbeer-flavoured ice cream at the Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Interactive wands can be purchased from the Ollivander's Wand Shop and used to activate features available around the Diagon Alley.
