Welcome to the Island of the Knights! Yes, that's what Rhodes came to be known as after the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem conquered it during the medieval times. Historic attractions

Rhodes has been of great significance since ancient times. Its old city was designed according to the planning system of Hippodamus of Miletus, one of the greatest city planners of ancient times. Among them is the Lindos Acropolis, which stands tall on a steep cliff overlooking the sea. One of them is Lindos, which has a majestic architecture, enchanting beaches, and an atmosphere that instantly relaxes your senses. One of these beautiful beaches is Anthony Quinn Beach, located at a distance of about 20 kilometres from Rhodes Town. It has been named after an American actor who used to go swimming in the waters touching this beach. St Paul's Bay has a couple of beaches that are explored by many tourists and the waters nearby offer great opportunities to indulge in swimming and snorkelling. While on a visit to the town of Lindos, don't forget to get to its beach area that has an excellent stretch of golden sands.

 

Shopping experiences

An interesting mix of traditional and modern markets makes shopping an exciting experience in Rhodes. While walking around the town areas, you'll find the old as well as new markets. You can also shop for your favourite items late at night while in the Old Town as the shops here don't close early owing to the constant visits of tourists. Upon visiting these any of these markets, you can buy bags, colourful umbrellas, jewellery, and many other items. Trendy and expensive apparels from the most popular brands are also available at certain places.
